In the Spring of 1970 God snatched me out of the professional world of music. My life as a performer came to a screeching halt after having met some believers who were walking with Christ in a manner that I had never seen. The drums having been sold, I bought a guitar and started writing about this "new life". In the beginning, there was no plan to focus on songs with scripture texts. But, as time passed "scripture songs" became the norm. Many were written in a house on Ohio Street in Lawrence, KS. Most were sung by the young congregation which somehow packed itself into the old two-story for meetings. The tunes became an integral part of church worship and private quiet times. I have had people tell me that, although they cannot recall the Bible studies of 30 years ago, they can recall word-for-word the scripture songs from those years. I decided to include the original sound recording. "Recorded" in an upstairs closet of this, the "brother's house", on Ohio Street, it bears witness to God's nearness in those rich days.
